Finances and Logistics

I offer a sliding fee scale to everyone.

My “full rate” is $150 per session. I also offer three solidarity rates ($130, $105, and “let’s talk about what you need”) and a “pay-it-forward” rate ($175), and I invite clients to choose among these based on their life situation. I’ve written quite a lot about how to approach the question, but I’m also happy to trust you—it’s pretty important for therapy relationships.

My goal is to find a way to make therapy accessible to everyone who wants it, respectfully acknowledging that access to money is not evenly or fairly distributed in our society, while also making a living and supporting my family. So far, the sliding fee scale has worked really well!

I do not work with insurance companies, although I am happy to provide documentation if your insurance company offers out-of-network reimbursement.

Logistics

I can usually fit new clients in within a week. I remember what it was like to need therapy and sit on endless waiting lists, and I keep some spots free in my schedule so I can help change that story.

I like to start with a free introductory conversation, usually lasting 15-20 minutes, where we can get to know each other, size each other up, and answer questions.

I mostly see people via telehealth (secure video), although I offer in-person walk-and-talk sessions in Burlington VT to established clients who want them.

Sessions generally last 50-53 minutes. I schedule on a per-visit basis (rather than assigning people to the same slot every week) because I have a lot of clients who need more flexibility than that. For folks who need more predictability, I’m very happy to offer appointments at a consistent time.
